Position Purpose                                                           

To manage and lead people in a continuous process manufacturing environment.

Key Accountabilities

Ensuring that the production schedule is met both financially and operationally.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the activities of assistant bakery director
  • Budget control, profit and loss of the manufacturing department
  • Reviewing current practices to reduce actual spends
  • Formulation of KPI’s based on an agreed standard
  • Measure / reviewing of department performance vs. agreed standard
  • Departmental review on a weekly / monthly / quarterly basis
  • Staff performance reviews
  • Liaising with key departments to ensure the smooth running of the operation
  • Ensuring that the production schedule is met both financially and operationally
  • Compilation of a weekly / monthly pack encapsulating budgetary control, wastage, downtime, staff turnover, absenteeism and plant efficiency
  • In conjunction with senior management, development of policy / practices for unit operation
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
    • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries immediately
    • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
    • Monitor and enforce GMP compliance by all operators
    • Ensure all work areas are clean and organized and free of spills, water, wood, and debris
    • Follow up with Health, Safety & Security Manager any reports of unusual people or behaviours
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 5-7 years track record in managing and leading people in a continuous process manufacturing environment
  • Background in bakery / yeast / frozen food manufacturing would be an advantage
  • Proven record in achieving budgets and adhering to financial guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with experience in report writing
  • Ability to supervise / lead others in positive employee relations climate
  • Proven record in successful planning, decision-making and problem solving
  • Competence in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

Required

  • College Diploma/Post Secondary Education in related field

Preferred

  • 5-7 years track record in managing and leading people in a continuous process manufacturing environment

  • ARYZTA Limited is a 24 hour/ 7 day manufacturing operation
  • The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80

degrees farenheit depending on the department 

  • Frozen Warehouse may have temperatures reaching 10.4 farenheit
  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is

running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times

  • Depending on postion, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and

respirators are available if required

  • Occasional evening and weekend work
  • Travel approximately 10-25%
  • On-call availability in support of local facilities and initiatives
