Position Purpose

To focus on measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quick changeover initiatives and uptime opportunities. Provide leadership and direction to maintenance team members to ensure goals and targets are met in a safe and timely manner.


Key Accountabilities

  • Troubleshoot and prevent maintenance related problems with Co-supervisors and manger by developing long and short term strategic plans.
  • Ensure efficient and cost effective management of maintenance processes and activities to maximize equipment reliability and asset preservation.
  • Prepare ongoing work schedules for maintenance technicians in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager.


  • Plan and schedule all work related to the building and grounds
  • Responsible for plumbing, HVAC, some plant electrical, exterior, walls, floors and roof maintenance
  • Knowledge of SAP PM
  • Provide leadership for staff
  • Liase with regulatory bodies, TSSA, MOE, MOL
  • Ensure compliances with TSSA act and Operating Engineers Regulations
  • Perform Scheduled equipment inspections
  • Review all logs associated and action any repairs or concerns
  • Ensure that all work is completed in a manner that complies with Government regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide technical knowledge for safe operation of Ammonia facility and low pressure steam boiler
  • Manage Process Safety Management program
  • Maintain an open line of interdepartmental communication
  • Attend morning production meetings and all other appropriate meetings.
  • Liaison with QA over quality issues to ensure food safety.
  • Maintain employee safety while ensuring ARYZTA’s plant safety policies and practices are adhered to.
  • Initiates plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
  • Member of Food Safety Committee- Ensure that compliance to the policies and procedures of the facility, regulatory and customer requirements are being met.
  • Complete accident investigations.
  • Create a positive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be proactive and self-motivated with the ability to lead others.
  • Proven trades experience in technical problem solving and decision-making.
  • Must be willing to pursue additional certification/licenses.
  • The willingness to adapt to a dynamic environment with multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of Government regulations as they apply to OHSA.
  • Knowledge of GMP’s and HACCP.
  • Willing to work shifts.
  • Able to understand scheduling process.
  • Able to problem solve, analyze and identify waste areas and  recommend solutions.



Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level



  • Hold a valid licence with TSSA either Refridgeraton B or A class or Stationary Engineer 3rd or 2nd class
  • 5-7 years of direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.



  • Certification as a class A or B refrigeration operator would be an asset.
  • Experience in food manufacturing is an asset.

  • ARYZTA Limited is a 24 hour/ 7 day manufacturing operation
  • The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80 degrees fare height depending on the department  
  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times
  • Depending on position, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and respirators are available if required
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposedto outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold.
