Position Purpose

This position is primarily responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the Refrigeration Mechanical rooms, Boiler Rooms and associated equipment and auxiliaries. The mandate is determined by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, and requires that the person in this position be in attendance during the operation of these devices, to ensure the safe efficient use of this equipment.

 

Key Accountabilities

TSSA

  • Under the direction of the Chief Engineer
    • Maintain a logbook, recording operating characteristics of the plant
    • Be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the plant
    • May perform work on the premises on which the plant is situated
  • Monitor and Maintain the on site Environmental systems
  • Perform periodic analysis of boiler and cooling water
  • Collect operational data and enter the information on to required forms
  • Take a leading role in the absence of the Chief Engineer during emergency events related to the Refrigeration or Boiler operations.
  • Assist in the training of new operators.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Perform the facility maintenance to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the buildings and support systems
  • Ensure the continuous operation of the facility
  • Take a customer service role in dealing with various people through out the facility. 
  • Take a leading role in the absence of the Chief Engineer during emergency events related to fire and spill emergencies until relieved by the Chief Engineer or Fire Warren
  • Adhere to all applicable job procedures as outlined in SOP manual
  • Adhere to GMP’s and Health and safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
    • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries to Supervisor immediately
    • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
    • All tools to be cleaned and maintained in good repair. Report any broken, damaged, or missing tools to your supervisor. Do not discard any damaged or broken tools.
    • Follow all GMPs including maintaining personal hygiene, handwashing/sanitizing hands, clean up spills (ie: ingredients, water, debris and wood)
    • Report any foreign material findings to your supervisor
    • As part of food security, report any unusual people or behaviours to your supervisor

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

 

Required

  • Refrigeration “B” Operator certification
  • Third Class Stationary Engineer Certificate (minimum target)

 

Preferred

  • Third Class Stationary Engineer Certificate  with secondary trade ticket (millwright, electrician. Etc.)

  • ARYZTA Limited is a 24 hour/ 7 day manufacturing operation
  • The temperature of the environment within the production area can range from 58 - 80 degrees fahrenheit depending on the department 
  • The production areas are often loud, exceeding 85 decibels, due to the machinery that is running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery at all times
  • Depending on postion, some employees may be exposed to dust; dust masks and respirators are available if required
