Position Purpose

The FSQA Supervisor has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by supervising FSQA Technicians to effectively implement food safety and quality procedures and meeting all regulatory, customer, and ARYZTA requirements.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • The FSQA Supervisor is responsible for implementing and monitoring food safety and quality assurance procedures and ensuring operations is in compliance with best practices for food safety and quality.
  • The FSQA Supervisor reports to the Manager, FSQA and provides leadership directly to their team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for complying with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC, SQF)
  • Responsible for supporting the HARPC Team in the implementation of an effective Food Safety plan focused on the elimination of biological, chemical, physical and economically motivated hazards from our foods.
  • Responsible for documentation, control, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) including procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
  • Works to maintain the safety, legality and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding customer requirements
  • Works to reduce customer/consumer complaints for foods manufactured on site using root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Responsible for the day to day management of the Tech 3, FSQAs including training and development of team and clear identification of objectives to meet the bakery needs
  • Reports food safety and quality issues, corrective actions, and preventive measures to the Manager, FSQA
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Develop and review SOP’s for QA
  • Responsible for coaching, development and performance evaluations of all the Tech 3, FSQAs
  • Ensures completion of Quality Assurance Procedures Annual review by all FSQA Technologists
  • Product review, samples, evaluations
  • Coordinate finished product sample collection and shipment for customer review
  • Prepare presentations for meetings
  • Support inventory control process
  • Maintain EtQ Database with respect to product held
  • Conduct follow up and investigations from holds making suitable recommendations for prevention of reoccurrence
  • Assist in investigation and disposition of finished product placed on hold as a result of quality issues
  • Ensure that proper traceability is maintained through the re-grade process
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality, and quality
  • Maintain the required hygiene, safety and quality standards on the production floor
  • Other duties as assigned

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

 

Required

 

  • Supervisory and effective communications skills
  • Bachelor of Science Degree or sufficient experience in the food industry
  • Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points)
  • Trained in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF
  • Basic understanding of microbiology
  • 3 years food industry manufacturing or quality experience including supervisory experience
  • Good writing, mathematics, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient in computers including spreadsheets, statistical programs, and SAP applications

 

Preferred

 

  • Post secondary diploma in Food Science
  • Minimum 5 years experience in food processing, food safety and quality assurance
