Position Purpose

Responsible for all aspects of departmental performance including safety, quality, reliability, efficiency, customer service, cost, employee performance, and training and development.

Responsible for ensuring the establishment and maintenance of a high level of hygiene standard throughout the plant.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure facility cleanliness standard meets / exceeds AIB / HACCP Requirements necessary for a “Superior” rating
  • Maintain Sanitation pre-requisite program and all SSOP documentation

 

Responsibilities

  • Continuously review and update all cleaning methods, SSOP’s and detergent usages
  • Recruit and manage all the sanitation operators and supervisors
  • Coach, discipline and provide training opportunities as necessary to motivate team to high performance through reinforcement and recognition
  • Maintain the supplies of cleaning equipment and detergents to ensure appropriate service levels at all times
  • Coordinate the activities of service contractors - waste removal, office cleaners, uniform laundry, window cleaners, contract plant cleaners in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Ensure that the sanitation department operates within the prescribed budget
  • Ensure the adherence of all company policies as they relate to sanitation, leading by example
  • Maintain current knowledge of procedures and standards while actively seeking continuous improvement
  • Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality, and quality
  • Maintain the required hygiene, safety and quality standards on the production floor
  • Other duties as required

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

  • Quality and service oriented with knowledge of the science of cleaning and HACCP principles
  • Experience with cleaning systems, contractors and processes for large facilities
  • Flexible and self-motivated with the ability to use initiative and foster a positive team environment.
  • Strong communication  and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with other departments

 

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

 

Required

  • Diploma in food science or related discipline
  • 3-5 years management experience in a food manufacturing environment

 

Preferred

  • 5-7 years experience managing a sanitation department in a food manufacturing environment
