Reporting to :

Maintenance Manager




Responsible for leading the maintenance personnel at the Burnaby bakery to ensure the equipment and operations meet the safety and quality standards.  Review current preventive maintenance program and make improvements as required. Seek to minimize overall maintenance downtime.



  • Develop, implement, maintain and continuously improve the Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Develop Preventative Program into a Predictive Maintenance Program.
  • Identify, evaluate and delegate safety, repairs, and maintenance activities to appropriate trades.
  • Establish completion dates and provide follow-up.
  • Establish department goals in conjunction with Maintenance Manager.
  • Establish and manage a collaborative work relationship with other departments.
  • Utilize necessary resources to ensure proper and safe operation of all assets within the plant operating structure.
  • Maintain open and reliable communications with coworkers to maintain team participation.
  • Schedule the work hours of maintenance personnel in order to ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Complete payroll bi-weekly
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
    • Keep work area clean and clear of hazards
    • Report any unsafe conditions, incidents or injuries immediately
    • Use all prescribed personal protective equipment
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
    • Monitor and enforce GMP compliance by all operators
    • Ensure all work areas are clean and organized and free of spills, water, wood, and debris
    • Complete incident reports for maintenance related FM/GMP incidents
  • Perform all other duties assigned



  • Certified Millwright, Electrician, Power Engineer or other equivelent qualification .
  • Project management experience.
  • Capable of managing 8 or more direct reports.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects on a timely basis.
  • Experience with conception, design and implementation of capital projects.
  • Punctual, flexible-minded, and organized.
  • Must possess good leadership skills and be able to work in an unionized environment.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills
  • Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office & CMMS.
