This role will be responsible for sourcing and procurement activities related to ingredients, including the development of sourcing strategies for assigned categories.  The position is also responsible for assisting in the development and execution of strategic risk management programs in support of ARYZTA business plans for the underlying commodities used in the procurement of ingredients.  Capable in cross functional engagements with stakeholders and prioritizing activities to achieve procurement department objectives and financial results.


Key Accountabilities

This position will be responsible for delivering value through sourcing savings initiatives and value engineering projects, while ensuring supply continuity and management of day-to-day tasks as well as annual budget preparation.  The position will report to the Director - Procurement.  This position is strategically important to delivering Procurement’s cost of goods budgets within stated annual goals and objectives, and is critical to the price stability of finished foods. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of key sourcing strategies, including increasing the ability to leverage volume and spend in those categories, delivering cost savings
  • Development of bid packages and administers RFI, RFQ and RFP
  • Develop relationships with suppliers and supports both bakery and business needs
  • Work with key cross-functional stakeholders to support the assigned categories including supplier and ingredient qualifications
  • Responsible for category financial planning, including the annual budget and standard cost development process
  • Understand and analyze purchase price variances and the impact on the business
  • Support bakeries with supply continuity through various formats including alternative suppliers
  • Support the business units by assessing potential commodity market price movement through fundamental, technical, and macro-economic analysis.
  • Define and assess price and supply risks and exposure for commodity categories.
  • Regularly review impact of economic, trade flow and commodity movements, assessing trends and provide insights to Procurement team and business partners on underlying cost drivers.
  • Monitor market dynamics and collaborate with the Risk Management team to make coverage recommendations to optimize value in commodity markets.
  • Assist in the development and executing the appropriate hedge strategies and positions to manage risk, minimize cost, and providing potential financial benefit.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be required and/or assigned as necessary.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • 5-7 years of related procurement; food manufacturing and ingredients procurement experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with food and ingredient categories such as Cocoa, Chocolate, Sugar is a plus
  • Expertise in contract negotiations, cost modeling, and value chain analysis
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Solid communication, problem solving and research skills are necessary
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint and prior experience with SAP is a plus
  • Ability to travel for work roles including bakery visits and supplier location visits
