Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President Procurement leads all aspects of the corporate sourcing and procurement function including the procurement of commodities and services, spend analysis, vendor contract supplier management, savings analysis, and audit. The VP Procurement will also establish, deploy and audit compliance to all local and Group procurement requirements, protocols and standards within the company’s North American procurement function.

The VP Procurement is responsible for leading the sourcing and supply functions to minimize overall cost and ensure continuity of supply while improving supplier quality, supply chain innovation and service. This position is responsible for developing maintaining and managing the organizational structure necessary to formulate procurement strategies and implement programs that partner with company business leaders at all levels to inform business plans, processes and systems that support company goals and policies. This position will collaborate with multiple stakeholders including supply vendors for direct materials, indirect goods and professional services to support operations and growth. Other stakeholders include senior management, operations, sales and finance leaders

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Deep understanding of, and experience in the use of the procurement process and best practices including developing market/industry analysis, supplier analysis, sourcing strategy and supplier strategy development.
  • Ability to understand and apply buying intelligence to negotiating strategy; read and evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with rules and regulations inclusive of contract compliance.
  • Establish, monitor and evaluate short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures
  • Develop best-in-class procurement processes to efficiently deliver procurement services, build competitively advantaged knowledge bases, engage e-procurement solutions and reduce transactional support costs across the organization while ensuring transparency to costs and risks
  • Work directly with suppliers to build strategic partnerships and manage negotiations when necessary. Provide coaching and direction cross functionally on strategic partner negotiations and relations
  • Oversee supplier strategy and guide the company on the best way to utilize our vendor resources for cost, operations efficiency, quality and continuity of supply
  • Monitor and review procurement and contracting procedures through consultation with the legal and accounting teams. Work cross functionally to ensure price protocols and supplier development is implemented
  • Demonstrates principled leadership and sound business ethics; shows consistency among principles, values, and behavior; builds trust with others through own authenticity and follows-through on commitments; driving results and success; conveying a sense of urgency.
  • Ensure staff members are honest and objective and have no conflict of interest with vendors, and that they follow the Company’s procedures and government rules and regulations.
  • Drive value and mitigate risk within Operations and Finance to include:
    • Improved Cash Flow
    • Optimized payment terms
    • Identification and realization of cost saving and cost reduction opportunities
    • Improved contract compliance
    • Improved acquisition efficiency
  • Institutionalize performance measures for supplier performance on a semi-annual basis, propose improvement opportunities to supplier partners, plan changes to the supplier base for underperforming suppliers
     
    Education/Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Accounting preferred.
  • 10+ years in management of procurement/strategic sourcing services role.
  • Previous people management and development
  • Proven organizational communication, problem solving, and research abilities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and prior experience with SAP a plus
  • CPM certification a plus
