  1. PURPOSE OF ROLE

 

To develop new and/or upgraded product concepts, support managing these through the stage-gate process to launch on time and to cost, ensuring that Quality standards are upheld.

  • DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • To ensure that all new products are developed in line with product briefs. These must be commercial work in practice and be in line with factory capabilities
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of bread, including fermentation.
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of Sour Doughs and Bulk Fermentation Doughs is essential
  • Responsibilities Include: mixing dough, managing fermentation, hand scaling and hand shaping, baking
  • Maintains organised and clean work stations
  • Demonstrates a willingness to perform occasional duties to aid other departments and willingness to support the entire business
  • To ensure that all developments satisfy price, quality, technical & operational parameters by means of a feasibility process.
  • To ensure that all products developed are in line with company strategy.
  • Modify existing recipes to the given requirements e.g. upgrading, reducing cost, reducing salt etc.
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the food retailing market, eg. via trade press, food magazines & competitor shopping, to ensure development of cutting edge & market leading products.
  • Work closely with Head of Innovation to achieve an Innovation pipeline for the site.
  • Present new products & upgrades to the site team in a professional manner, demonstrating your bakery, food ingredient & process knowledge & expertise.
  • Preparing samples, presentation packs & any theatre required.
  • Ensure a close working relationship with multifunctional teams
  • Evaluate new & existing raw materials when required

 

 

  • ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Baker
  • A culinary school degree or relevant training is a plus
  • Great time management skills
  • Drive  to go out & seek new ideas
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills at all levels
  • Able to work both as an individual & a team player
  • Need to be creative and have a thirst for knowledge
  • Not frightened to challenge the “norm”
  • Basic computer literacy – excel, word, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrate an above standard knowledge & understanding of food
  • Excellent presentation skills
