Position Overview

Reporting to the DVP – TD & OE, the Manager of Learning & Development role will oversee the full creation and execution of employee development programs and solutions in key areas including foundational leadership skills, job level development programs, and function/department job skill programs.  Using deep understanding of adult learning principles and effective training practices, the Manager will know employee group needs and design development experiences that have measurable impact.  While another Manager oversees learning systems (LMS, LXP), this role will engage employees in maximizing use of those systems, as related to development programs and goals.  Business acumen is critical in this role, and the Manager will strive to understand current and changing business needs, source best-fit content and tools, and collaborate with business partners in design and implementation of development solutions.  Under DVP oversight, the Manager will assist with execution of broader Talent Development & Organizational Effectiveness initiatives.

Responsibilities & Capabilities

  • Project Management (own and drive project design, implementation, and sustainability)
  • Leadership Development background:  Has taught one or more fundamental skill development programs such as EQ, performance coaching, personal effectiveness, etc.
  • Advanced trainer skills:  can design & deliver comprehensive training content for front-line and support-function employees, and lead train-the-trainer programs (for non-trainers)  
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and builds buy-in
  • Visionary, that sees and stretches towards future capabilities
  • Ability to assess current state, needs, and opportunities
  • Manages complexity in project scope and business diversity of needs
  • Creative, out-of-the box thinking, in approach to traditional programs and processes
  • Mindset & ability to keep processes, tools, and programs simple, agile, scalable, and realistic
  • Works quickly with high quality, to meet aggressive timeframes
  • Ability to self-manage work progress and completion, address barriers, and propose solutions to challenges

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in training/learning & development project management
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced certification in employee development, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years advanced application of adult learning theory in project design
  • Expert facilitator of leadership development programs (Certification preferred)
  • Strong background of designing and implementing complex employee development programs (i.e. emerging leaders program, career path programs, new supervisors, etc.)
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual conference tools (Webex, Zoom, or other)
  • Must be able to travel in the US & Canada, while generally working from both a company office and home office environment
