Job Title: Operator 2, Bakery-Forklift (2nd shift)

 

Primary Responsibilities of the position consist of but are not limited to:

 

  • Sign in on your line Staffing sheet; Be at your work station on time.
  • Follow company GMPs.
  • Wear proper PPE, knit or cotton gloves where applicable.
  • Complete forklift check-sheet each time a new forklift is used; Ensures that forklifts are properly inspected (documented) for safe operational use and that the batteries are charged when not in use.
  • Operate forklift safely; Ensures proper use and maintenance of equipment and notifies supervision of any issues
  • Pick outbound orders according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Loads outbound orders according to SOP.
  • Complete all documentation according to SOP.
  • Inform shipping/receiving supervisor when leaving work area; Ensure compliance with shipping/receiving safety and process procedures/practices and all company practices and procedures.
  • Notify shipping/receiving supervisor of any unsafe working conditions.
  • Any other duties assigned as needed.
  • Maintain area of responsibility clean and organized; Separate and remove any bad broken pallets from circulation and set aside.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of product during processing.
  • This position is also responsible for food safety and legality.
  • Reads production orders and/or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, vehicles, trays, racks and shelves by hand or use of forklift or powered pallet jack.  Transfers product from one pallet to another weighing up to 30lbs.
  • Ensures that forklifts are properly inspected (documented) for safe operational use and that the batteries are charged when not in use.
  • Support quality control programs to ensure production procedures are in compliance with best practices food safety and quality standards.

Requirements:

Education/ Experience:  High school, general education degree (GED), one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one year forklift experience.  Previous RF unit experience preferred.  Previous freezer environment experience desired.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend and use hands, hand or feel objects, tools or controls. Required to reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.  Employee is sometimes subjected to extreme heat and/or extreme cold work area.

  • The ARYZTA Northlake bakery is a 24 hour/7 day manufacturing operation. 
  • The environment within the production area is around 70-80 degrees, packaging 90-100 and oven area it can reach 110 degrees.  The environment in freezer can be zero (0*)F to ten below (-10*) F.
  • The production areas are often loud due to the machinery that is running; earplugs are required to be worn while in the bakery.
