Key Accountabilities
This position is responsible for contributing to the production of high-quality products.  The Production Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to daily and weekly production schedules. Duties include reviewing and coordinating production plan, materials purchasing, and material movements between warehousing. Communicating with department supervisors to determine progress of inventory levels, and solving production plans.

•    Use MRP to plan and place orders, ERP/MRP systems to manage supply
•    Communicate five week rolling forecast received from Planning to suppliers
•    Coordinate with suppliers to schedule, coordinate and facilitate timely receipt of materials
•    Set up new product start-ups
•    Run and review SAP reports for accuracy and adjust as needed
•    Evaluate vendors that meet quality, price and delivery specifications
•    Review all received invoices and confirm pricing for accounts payable (ensure materials received properly and matches order). Oversee all processes that pertain to daily planning.

•    Create production schedule and convert to process orders using SAP.
•    Plan necessary based on availability of materials to adjust production schedule.
•    Implement purchasing procedures to ensure effective product cost control. Evaluate and monitor inventory levels.
•    Participate in physical inventory; rotate, dispense or discard as needed (per policy/specifications)
•    Perform daily inventory count of core items
•    Review inventory levels daily.
•    Participate in physical reconciliation of inventory
•    Manage aged and obsolete bulk ingredient, ingredient and packaging materials. Resolve shortages, production, BOM usage.
•    Ensure appropriate usage planning to control ingredient and packaging issues
•    Maintain and control weight verification program
•    Resolve quality and claim issues with vendors
•    Set the example by actively contributing to department and company goals.
•    Take initiative and seek additional training or direction as needed.
•    Build quality into work. Ensure processes are consistent with quality objectives. 
•    Be aware of current quality levels versus target levels.
•    Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls. 
•    Make suggestions for Improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality and productivity.
•    Responsible for managing the inventories of finished goods and raw materials and providing support if needed 24 hour a day seven day a week.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Required Skills: 

•    High school diploma or equivalent, and 2 years functional or food industry experience
•    Computer literate with proficiency in inventory, spreadsheet and Microsoft Office applications
•    Analytical, audit and decision making skills.
•    Exhibits accuracy, attention to detail and good organizational skills. 
•    Excellent communications, negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
•    4 years purchasing experience in manufacturing/food environment
•    SAP proficiency


Preferred Skills and Certifications 
•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred. 
•    HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) food industry certificate preferred 
•    Food inventory, control, sourcing and procurement experience preferred
•    Product supply knowledge preferred
•    Logistics and quality knowledge preferred
