Key Accountabilities

This position is responsible for supporting the Supply Chain Finance activities at a bakery. A close working relationship with the bakery management team and in particular, the Bakery Controller, must be maintained in order to provide financial analysis and business insight on a daily basis.


  • Support the Bakery Controller in a multitude of areas including but not limited to: 1) process order reporting; 2) inventory management; 3) process/continuous improvement; 4) cost control and containment (including involvement in variance analysis); 5) project tracking/management; 6) ad-hoc analysis to support the Bakery Controller’s role.
  • Promotes a strong internal control environment within the bakery.  Identifies possible weaknesses and develop (in conjunction with Bakery Controller) systems/processes to close any gaps in conjunction with the financial policies of the company and IFRS.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency and/or effectiveness of bakery operations, with the ultimate goal of increasing bakery profitability.
  • Assist with month end, reporting and internal and external audits.
  • Participate in the Capital Expense Requests process as required.  Monitor project progress and ensure that closing notices are prepared and processed in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.   
  • Support the bakery asset disposals and transfers process. Perform fixed asset inventories as directed.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and two-way communication with peers and other personnel throughout the company.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related finance experience in a Manufacturing environment and/or training (Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in accounting or finance); or equivalent combination of education and experience.  CPA (or candidate) preferred.
  • Strong SAP and Microsoft Excel skills, knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint and Outlook email software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced culture; must be able to re-prioritize tasks on short notice and adapt to a dynamic work atmosphere.
  • Strong understanding of standard costing methods and concepts
  • Good people and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex business issues and develop and communicate sound analyses with moderate direction
  • Team orientation with ability to work well across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to analyze performance trends across multiple periods of time, including price-volume-mix analyses.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Maintain a focus on proactive and consistent process improvement.  Be a self-starter that is dependable and requires minimal supervision.
