Position Purpose

Supervises maintenance technicians, performs maintenance activities, schedules employees and coordinates activities to keep manufacturing plant running in 24/7 environment. Supervises and assists in repairs of breakdowns, alignment, troubleshooting and operations of building and plant equipment. Initiates preventative maintenance action, schedules and supervises preventative maintenance activities.

 

Key Accountabilities

Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance, may become actively involved as required to meet schedules and resolve problems. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

75%

·         Supervise and provide lead technical knowledge in repair of breakdowns and troubleshooting, rescheduling maintenance needs as equipment fails or as production plan changes. Determine whether problem can be solved in-house or outside specialist required, and make recommendation to Maintenance Manager.

·         Coordinate activities with parts clerk, vendors or suppliers to obtain quotes for projects and execute installations, services, or repairs

·         Support continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing

·         Comply with all federal, state, and local Environmental and Safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.)

·         Prepare technician schedule for 24 hour/ 7 day operation line coverage and preventative maintenance activities, and recommend overtime allocation as necessary.

·         Work with maintenance planner/scheduler to prioritize and plan work order completion including follow-up activities

Collaborate with Maintenance Manager to document plant needs for fiscal year, including cost value of equipment repair or replacement.

 

Perform other duties as assigned or required.

 

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

 

Required

  • High school diploma

  • 7 years shop floor experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Maintenance/Engineering expertise in hydraulics, mechanics, process and electrical functions of equipment.

  • Computer literate with proficiency in Excel and Word for spreadsheets and reports.

  • Leadership and communications skills

  • Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) electrical troubleshooting knowledge.

     

    Preferred

  • Community college technical degree plus 5 years shop floor experience in manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical/Electrical or Chemical Engineering

  • Proficient in SAP
