Position Purpose

To manage and lead people in a continuous process manufacturing environment, while ensuring that the production schedule is met both financially and operationally



  • Leading, coaching and supporting Production Supervisors
  • Ensure department budget is maintained for the manufacturing department
  • Analyse current practices and develop action plan to reduce actual spend
  • Develop KPI’s with other departments on agreed product standards
  • Understand and report current department performance verses set standard. Develop action plan to achieve goal
  • Monitor and report on daily production status
  • Ensure successful implementation of organizational change working towards Production Standards
  • Continual improvement mind-set helping move production forward by researching and working with other departments on improvements on existing processes and practices, including production schedule, waste reduction and line efficiency.
  • Working with QA, ensure successful completing of R & D line tests with minimum disruption to current customers orders
  • Liaising with key departments to ensure the smooth running of the operation
  • Build strong working relationship with team
  • Participate with the annual Company Performance review and Goal setting activities, including providing continual feedback on performance, helping team members achieve the teams and individual goals, conducting performance reviews
  • Effectively work as a key member of the Management team
  • Build strong working relationships with teams to ensure smooth operations of all departments
  • Ensure all Supervisors are adequately trained to support a positive productive manufacturing department
  • Promote and enforce all Company policies and procedures
  • Participate in Company’s Workplace H&S Committee
  • Ensure all training, including cross training, annual training and job specific training, is up to date for all manufacturing employees
  • Attend and participate in, conjunction with Human Resources, on union matters.
  • Ensure and promote safe work practices in accordance with GMP’s, HACCP and food safety polices and regulations
  • Assist in the weekly and forecast production scheduling
  • Perform other duties as required

Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and managerial attributes.
  • Proven organizational and time-management skills
  • 5-7 years’ experience managing and leading people in a continuous process manufacturing environment
  • Min 2 years in management role
  • Completion of University or College in management or business
  • Experience working in food industry
  • Experience working within a unionized environment an asset
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Proven record in successful planning, decision-making and problem solving
  • Proven  record of developing team members
