Position Purpose

Is responsible for the administration of daily Human Resources functions. Ensuring a strong, respectful, open working relationships with all hourly staff.

 

Key Accountabilities

Day to day HR administration, general labour relations, recruiting, point of contact for hourly unionized staff as well as department supervisors.

 

Responsibilities

  • Promote Company policies and procedures ensuring all staff are treated fairly and equally.
  • Ensure all Company policies are annually reviewed and up to date with Provincial and Corporate requirements.
  • Ensure understanding of current Collective Agreement supporting leadership with compliance.
  • Administration of Collective Agreement articles relating to vacation, sick pay, LOA’s, discipline, etc.
  • Maintain and administer Company engagement programs. I.E. Birthday cards, Years of Service Awards, etc.
  • Full cycle recruitment for all open positions. Analysing trends, turnover and current job market.
  • Onboarding administration, making sure all new hires achieve required training, set up correctly within HR systems (SuccessFactors, Dayforce, Manulife, CanadaLife, etc.)
  • Main point of contact for all hourly and salaried staff on all HR matters
  • Weekly and monthly reporting to Corporate
  • Support Supervisors and Managers on payroll matters, including learning how to work in Dayforce, auditing timecards, tracking errors, etc.
  • Assist the HRBP in Labour Relations matters with the union
  • Support department leaders with semi and annual performance reviews.
  • Support department leadership on training and development needs for each department. Working closely with HRBP and Corporate training team.
  • Maintaining employee files as to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Lead Company Engagement activities, including staff lunches, all holiday events, etc.
  • Maintain HR communication boards within the facility.
  • Adhere to GMPs and Health and Safety rules as outlined in employee handbook
  • Ensure GMP’s and safe food handling practices are being followed
  • Perform all other duties assigned

 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of legal legislation and employment standards
  • Proven record in successful planning, decision-making and problem solving
  • Ability to supervise / lead others in positive employee relations climate
  • Knowledge of Alchemy training program
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with experience in report writing

 

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

 

Required

  • Accredited Human Resources Management education or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years progressive Human Resources experience
  • Ability to muti-task with competing and changing priorities within a fast paced environment
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong ability to problem solve, thinking outside of the box while staying fair and consistent for the whole bakery
  • Solid conflict resolution skills

 

Preferred

  • Human Resources experience within manufacturing considered an asset
  • Human Resources experience within a unionized environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience with Dayforce
